Screw 'Em!
While the impending economic collapse is scary and daunting and overwhelming, it is more importantly, at least for me, empowering and clarifying. The coming economic and environmental crises have crystallized for me the real belief that we do not need to feed the thieves anymore if we choose not to. We do not need to poison the environment anymore if we choose not to. Sure it will be hard. There will be risks, and suffering. But they—the people who have brought us to the brink of destruction---they are the endangered species here, not us! Not the common folk!! Our numbers are on the rise, and their time has come! They’re the ones who have created lifestyles and existences that are totally dependent upon our capitulation. We stop playing, their game ends. We are the antibiotic to their disease: we stop working, they perish. So I say, as eloquently and politely as I possibly can, screw 'em. The time has come to stop participating, stop playing, and stop living our lives by their rules.
THE GAME: The Bush Administration issued edicts and gutted laws in the 11th hour of a failed Presidency. These laws are meant to “promote” economic growth through alleviating obstacles such as THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT, THE CLEAN AIR ACT, etc. In trashing these laws, the Administration believed that it could create a more business-friendly environment for companies who may become more willing to recommence operations---thus expanding economic growth in select regions of the country. I say, screw ‘em. Refuse to benefit from the work of any company who fails to comply---NOT simply with the failed legislation of useless lawmakers and NOT just with the gutted legislation of an amoral Presidency---but who fails to comply with our community standards. We make the rules, not them! It’s our country, not theirs! The criminals pump pollution into the air? I say, refuse to do business with ‘em. Don’t buy their stuff, don’t support their rich CEOs, don’t reward their criminal behavior!! Screw 'em!
POWER: The New Hampshire electric company PSNH raised rates by 4% on January 1st, 2009. The jerks think they can raise rates with impunity because (a) they have a veritable monopoly on services in certain parts of the state and because (b) we are a people utterly addicted to our need for their energy. I say, screw ‘em. Organize in your/our neighborhoods and towns and, en masse, simply refuse to honor the hikes. What are they going to do, cut power to thousands of customers whose money the they need in order to survive as a going concern? And what if they do cut power: What if they ‘call us’ on our bluff? Screw ‘em!! Get together in your neighborhoods and towns, and share resources, and keep each other warm, and teach each other how to live like our great-grandparents did: How did our ancestors survive? They organized! We’ll keep electricity in 2 or 3 homes, and these “homes” will become our laundry and cooking and bathing centers for the community. And if the electric company tries to strong-arm us into compliance, we simply go without, altogether. If I’m not mistaken, humankind survived for millennia without light bulbs and televisions and electric ovens. The jerks cannot continue to steal from us if we band together and refuse to play!
TAXES: Henry Paulson goes to Congress and lies to the know-nothings on Capitol Hill and ends up pilfering trillions of dollars from the taxpayers. And then he gives the money to the banking executives so that they can still have their million-dollar yachts and mansions and lavish lifestyles whilst the rest of us bow down in celebrated ignorance to their gods. And then, can you even believe it?!?---we’re supposed to be the ones who pay the government back all those trillions through annual ritual of our great tax screwing. I say, screw ‘em!! Enough is enough! Screw paying taxes until the criminals stop making each other rich, and screw sending these charlatan elitists to Congress, and screw paying them their $175,000/year salaries, and take away their toys and their fancy cars and all of the stuff that we have paid for through our hard work and suffering.
BANKS: Get your money out now—and screw ‘em. Let ‘em fail, collapse, disappear altogether. Combine whatever capital you have with others in your community and create self-sustaining living spaces and grow your own food and raise your own cows and chickens and take care of one-another and stop supporting banks that have been created over the centuries by the wealthy as a way to make money on your hard work! Enough already! Fractional Reserve Banking is a sham. FIAT currency is a ploy created by the rich to make themselves richer and to keep the rest of us in debt-servitude and slavery. Screw ‘em! Get your money out and make it work for you and for your community, and make the criminals poor! The era of banking is over. The era of rich jerks in shirts and ties living high on the hog whilst the rest of us bow down to him as if he has a magical phallus are over! It is our world, not his! It is up to us to save the environment from his depravity, to save each other from getting raped by him one more time. We have a choice here!
CARS: Screw ‘em! We don’t need ‘em. Screw the oil czars and the billionaires in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and in Bloomfield Hills. Live locally. Create local systems in which the need for the automobile all-but evaporates. Keep a few community vehicles in your town, but end the car culture, save the world.
MORTGAGES: Don’t pay ‘em! Screw ‘em, and screw the thieves who created mortgages to make themselves wealthy and to keep us enslaved. Organize! Protect each other from the usurers. When the sheriff comes with the eviction notices, band together. The sheriff works for us, not for the banks! His salary is paid by us. Bring him into the fold, take care of him and his family, feed him and care for him when he is ill. Help him realize that working for the rich banking jerks is evil and amoral. He is one of us. Get together with your neighbors and build homes together, and for each other. Pool resources, buy old vacant business and hotels and apartments and dorms and convert them into housing for all. No rent. No mortgages. You live in the community, you work in and for the community. No banks, no middle man, no usurers getting rich on our backs.
FAST FOOD: Stop eating it. Just stop. Are you hungry and do you need a bite to eat right away? Drive by my house and I’ll cut you up a couple of apples from my apple tree and I’ll spread some organic, homemade, uncontaminated peanut putter on the side. You can have it for free. I don’t want money. You’ll lose weight. You’ll feel better. And the rich jerks who own McDonalds and Wendy’s and all of those places that are poisoning us, and all of the doctors who get rich on our obesity and on our diabetes, they all get poor and either join us in creating a new world, or they die. They choose. So I say, screw ‘em. Screw these rich doctors and their big homes in the suburbs and their 3 car garages and their 7 bathrooms and manicured lawns and their million-dollar salaries. And screw fast food and the poison that we feed our beautiful children.
TV: Stop watching. Just stop watching! Stop being a slave to the folks who use TV to sell us all manner of crap we do not need. Stop making the cable companies rich and the Oprah’s of the world rich and the stop making the jerks who created this electronic heroin wealthy on our sadness and aloneness. Stop making the CEOs of SONY and NBC and FOX rich whilst your kids sit in front of the idiot box and get fat and stupid and old before their time. The rich bastards’ world comes totally crashing down around them, and they join us in the bread lines that they have created through making themselves rich on our weakness and addictions, when we simply turn off our idiot boxes, shut off our cable, and return to living as our grandparents---and every generation before our grandparents---did: Reading, writing, laundering, candle making, woodcarving, talking, sharing, and making love!
Look, we have a choice here. You may not think so because the jerks have done a helluva job convincing us that we don’t have a choice. But we do! Yes, I am angry. The planet is dying. Billions are starving. A 3000 year old system of conquest and colonialism and slavery is, at this very moment, up for a revote. As the economies of the world collapse, a new world is waiting to be born. I happen to believe that if we can face this struggle with clarity and courage, we may be able to save the future. It truly is time to get busy living.
Vote for me in 2010...and SCREW 'EM!!!!!
